Found this on the Wikipedia for Tickford, who imported and RHD converted 250 Mustangs way back in 2001. Seems Ford swapped a V10 from some sort of Ford truck/motorhome into a V6 Convertible model and supercharged it, to help promote the Mustang sales locally. Was kept LHD and mostly used for burnouts.
The article Wikipedia references is not to be found, seems their website is a bit borked these days. But I tracked it down on

if you’re interested. Has some more pics too, but don’t try opening them for a bigger size.
Wonder where it is now.

Interestingly, the Ford Triton V-10 is just a “Mod” V8 with 2 extra cylinders tacked on. Though it is based on the tall deck 5.4L truck blocks. But Ford has done this a few times, another one that comes to mind is “Project Daisy” which was a concept for a modern Shelby Cobra, in the same vein as the Ford GT, but with V10 power.

Was wondering “why start with a V6 convertible?”, but reading the article I see that yeah there wouldn’t have been much point starting with a V8 car anyway. No need to be picky about getting V8 goodies like the 8.8 axle over the 7.5 if you’re swapping a 9 inch in, etc. Still not sure why they went with a convertible chassis over a coupe though...

I think it was a convertible just because it was always going to be a show car, and a convertible is showier.

Triton V10 translates to “Head Studs and Gaskets... Forever”
All the hotrodders up here have fantasized, but the Triton is a challenging platform.

I think you’re confusing this engine with something else. The 6.8 V10 was used without much issue across tens of thousands of fleet , UHaul trucks, RVs , Super Duty’s, and Excursions.
The 6.0 diesel has head gasket issues.
The 4.6 and 5.4 Triton engines are the crap ones.
